This book features cutting-edge scholarship on food system assessment written by several scholars working in diverse regions internationally, with strong representation from the Global South. It includes scholars holding diverse approaches to systemic analysis. This is published through the FLEdGE network coordinated by Alison Blay-Palmer at Wilifred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.
One chapter written by Ken Meter covers techniques for performing food system assessment in complex adaptive systems.

Toolkit for Mapping a Food System
Looking for ways to better understand your local food system? Below is a link to a toolkit, developed by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County, which may be used to support projects seeking to acquire a more robust understanding of local/regional food system assets. This toolkit, free and open to the public, includes a detailed tutorial which lays out a process for surveying and mapping food system components through the use of downloadable and customizable survey models.

This summer (2018), Columbia County UW-Extension partnered with the School District of Wisconsin Dells (SDWD) to host the F2S Showcase, refer to attached file for more details. The purpose of the SDWD Food Service F2S Showcase was to spotlight the fresh local food served as part of the SDWD’s school meal program; increase awareness of Columbia County’s local food resources and increase knowledge of how local food contributes to overall wellness and healthy eating habits. The Showcase featured three stations: Meet the Farmer; Local Food Nutritional Facts; and, Tasting & Food Service F2S Survey.
